Century Expanded: Hamilton Pressure-Print Workshop

June 12, 2014 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Hamilton pressure-print workshop on June 12th will be led by Jim Moran, Director of the Museum and assisted by Stephanie Carpenter, the Museum’s Assistant Director. They will be bringing both type and decorative blocks from the museum’s collection for participants to experiment and print with. This “hand’s on” workshop runs from noon until 4 p.m. on the 12th and paper, ink and all materials will be provided. Get your hands dirty with historic images from the museum’s archives. The class is limited to 20 persons and the cost is $100 per attendee. Should the workshop fill to capacity, a second workshop will be held the following morning from 9 until 1 p.m.

Following the workshop, a talk will be given Thursday at 6:30 p.m. by Jim Moran, “Hamilton – A working museum in transition”. The presentation will highlight the history of Hamilton’s place in the world of typography and their year-long effort to pack up the world’s largest collection of type into a new facility and begin a re-birth of the Hamilton legacy.
