Craig Ward

Craig Ward is a British born typographer and art director currently based in New York. He formally founded The Words are Pictures Studio in 2011 after leaving his role as Senior Designer at Grey, New York. Prior to that he worked as a designer and art director for a handful of agencies in London following his graduation in 2003.

A former ADC Young Gun, TEDx speaker and contributor to several industry journals including Creative Review and Computer Arts, his work straddles the disciplines of photography, illustration, typography and the sciences and has been featured in every major design publication still in print. In January 2013 he published his first self authored book, ‘Popular Lies About Graphic Design’ which became an Amazon best seller across the USA and Europe.

Over the last 10 years he has been fortunate enough to work with some the highest profile clients across the advertising, publishing, music and fashion industries and he continues to explore the notion of word as image; constantly exploring new ways to create type and to bring words to life.
