Grammy nominee Brian Roettinger, who designed the campaign for Jay-Z’s “4:44” and “Uptown Funk”, and explains how his work went from LA punk to superstar stages. He discusses how typography played a role in his early branding and design work in the Los Angeles music scene and how he has applied what he learned to album branding for major stars. Roettinger also pays tribute to a vernacular sign sign business in southern California that recently closed its doors.

This talk is part of the second annual day-long Type Directors Club conference held at SVA Theatre in New York City on March 23, 2018.
