Love Letters: Exhibition Tour with Tony DiSpigna

Designer Tony DiSpigna will be conducting a tour of his exhibition currently on view at the Type Directors Club on Monday evening, March 19 at the Type Directors Club. DiSpigna, known for his graceful Spencerian Script and memorable logo design work, will use his keen eye and sharp insight to give viewers an insider’s look at the work on display. Tony’s letters are never tangled, but the tales he tells may be!
This entertaining and lively event, is hosted by the TDC and the Herb Lubalin Study Center, as part of Herb Lubalin’s centenary, Lubalin 100 (www.Lubalin100.com]. It will be a memorable night of visual delights and lively conversation with someone who has spent his career coaxing the loveliest shapes out of letterforms.
Tony Di Spigna was born on the island of Ischia, Italy. He is a graduate of New York City Community College and Pratt Institute. Tony was a partner in the legendary studio of Lubalin Associates where he worked on all aspects of visual communication and graphic design. He has achieved international recognition for his letterform and typographic designs including exclusive newly designed corporate typefaces and logos. He has won numerous awards and his work has been widely exhibited in The United States and abroad. In 2007, he was honored with a one man show in Italy. He currently teaches at The New York Institute of Technology and is a tenured professor at Pratt Institute where he was given the institute-wide Distinguished Professor Award.
Tony’s fascinating and lavish book, Love Letters, was released in 2017.
