Workshop: Managing Projects and Clients for High Impact with Emily Cohen

Are you in reactive mode when you manage clients and projects? Are you overwhelmed and constantly fighting fires?
In this workshop you will learn to move from a reactive management process to a more proactive, planned management process. Whether you work within a creative agency/firm or in-house, this session will explore key communication tools and strategies that result in better managed, long-term, and mutually rewarding client relationships. You will be guided through the entire relationship cycle, from project initiation to project close out with a focus on high-level best practices that facilitate a more seamless client and project management process. The presentation will focus on common client and project management challenges and attendees will learn effective best practice solutions for a variety of client-designer relationship challenges.
Instructor: Emily Cohen
A brutally honest consultant, Emily has worked with leading design firms helping them improve their operational effectiveness and build efficient teams and processes. Emily has been a consultant for over 20 years providing confidential, best-practice insights and advice on staff, client, and process-management strategies, conducting leadership retreats, client surveys and writing winning proposals and contracts. She served as Secretary for the AIGA/NY Board of Directors and has taught classes and conducted seminars for many leading design schools and organizations. Emily is a frequently-requested speaker on business-related issues for the creative industry and has spoken at numerous conferences and events sponsored by AIGA, HOW, Design Business Association in London (DBA), The Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario (RGD) and Design Management Institute (DMI). She also currently teaches professional practices to BFA Design students at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). She also runs www.evolvesymposium, an event consisting of expert-led business practice presentations and peer driven conversations delivering actionable results for design firm principals.
