Jeff Rogers never thought in a million years that he would one day be running his own studio in New York City and creating letters for a living. Early in life, Jeff decided to ignore one teacher’s advice to choose only one area of study and decided in that moment that both music and art would always be a part of his life. Learning and experiencing both music and art/design simultaneously over many years has developed a strong desire to continually explore new ideas and experiences, and to pursue passions that may seem out of line with a specific career path. This approach has led to, and has had a great and unexpected impact on his typographic work specifically. In this talk, Jeff will present a selection of his work and walk us through a personal account of how having a variety of experiences can develop a strong singular voice.
Jeff Rogers is a multidisciplinary designer and illustrator specializing in custom lettering of all shapes and sizes. Stocking his Brooklyn studio with paint brushes, pens, markers, and a couple of humongous computers, he creates unique and joyful work for a wide range of clients including The New York Times, Google, Ray-Ban, Toyota, Nike, Urban Outfitters, Nickelodeon, and others. Jeff has received industry recognition and awards from The Type Directors Club, Print magazine, Communication Arts, The One Show and American Illustration.
