Paul Rand Exhibition Tour
May 8, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The Type Directors Club is pleased to host a tour of the exhibition “Everything is Design: The Work of Paul Rand” at the Museum of the City New York. The tour takes place during Creative Week 2015 and the TDC extends a special welcome to members of the One Club. The Type Directors Club honored Paul Rand with its TDC Medal in 1984 and the One Club inducted him into its Creative Hall of Fame in 2007.
The exhibition features more than 150 ads, posters, logos, and books by Rand, a New York native and one of the most well-known and admired American graphic designers. Born in Brooklyn in humble circumstances, Rand (1914-1996) launched his career designing magazines, and helped revolutionize the advertising profession when he worked as an art director on Madison Avenue. He later consulted with leading corporations such as IBM, ABC, UPS, and Steve Jobs’s NeXT, and created comprehensive visual communications systems that ranged from packaging to building signage. Rand’s influence was extended through his many years of teaching at Yale University and his books, including the recently republished Thoughts on Design.
