Daniel Pelavin
Typographic designer Daniel Pelavin began practicing in the days when Adobe was primarily known as a building material. Upon sufficient prodding, and occasionally of his own volition, he writes humorous but cogently persuasive articles for trade magazines, technical journals, and his daughters’ school newsletters. He is the designer of the typeface ITC Anna, which has inexplicably been successful beyond the scope of its meager origins. It has always been his contention that judges in design competitions not be eligible to enter their own work. As a member of the TDC, he has chaired one annual show, been the designer for another and sat through countless board meetings where the topic “Shall we change/update the name of the club” came up on the agenda.
