Elizabeth Carey Smith
Elizabeth Carey Smith runs ECS, a design practice in New York City. She specializes in typography, lettering, type design, branding, and data visualization, and has worked for a broad array of industry and media, including small design studios and large corporations; fashion ad agencies and arts organizations; magazines, startups, and The City of New York. She has taught graphic design and typography intermittently for the past six years at the City College of New York.
An avid member of the typographic community, Elizabeth is one of the founding members of Alphabettes, an organization for and by women in type. She earned her BFA from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and was a 2012 graduate of the Type@Cooper extended program.
