Joe Newton
Artist and art director Joe Newton has worked both sides of the table. As an art director he has created countless covers and features, and assigned hundreds of illustrations and photos for Rolling Stone and Seattle’s The Stranger. As Head of Type for Veer.com Joe was responsible for the visual identity and content curation of the Fonts division.
In the beginning of 2012 Gail Anderson and Joe Newton launched AND (Anderson Newton Design) a creative agency dedicated to sophisticated yet playful design, with a focus on typography. Specialties include packaging, and publication design. Recent clients include Time, Fortune, The New York Times, Club Monaco, The U.S. State Department, and the School of Visual Arts.
As an illustrator, Joe has worked with publications such as The New York Times, Vibe, and Nickelodeon magazine, and for clients like Sony Music and Publicis. For more than 10 years his illustrations have appeared weekly alongside the Savage Love column in The Stranger and many other publications. His paintings have been featured in solo shows at Seattle’s prestigious Roq la Rue gallery. His artworks have been honored by American Illustration, Communications Arts, and Print magazine. His design work has been recognized by the Society of Publication Designers and the Society of Illustrators.
Joe is also an avid musician and DJ who has toured internationally.
