TDC Salon: October 2, 2014. “New Typography for the Holy Scripture” with Dirk Fütterer
Dirk Fütterer, a communication designer with more than 20 years of experience in the US and Germany, manages the Institut für Buchgestaltung (Institute of Book Design, IFB) at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld, Germany, which has been designing the 73 books and letters of the Bible in a reader-friendly way that is appropriate to the content. In this salon, Prof. Dirk Fütterer presents this mammoth “Bielefeld Bible” project. Around 60 (mostly student) designers have been working since 2009 on the undogmatic presentation of the biblical writings to do justice to the spiritual and cultural as well as the narrative and emotional dimensions of the text.
