TDC Judges Night with Janine Vangool and Alice Savoie

January 26, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Each year the TDC chooses the best typographic design from around the world and features the work in traveling international exhibitions as well as in our classic annual. We couldn’t do it without our judges, an ever-changing team of diverse professionals at the top of their game. This year our judges hail from Iran, France, Canada and around the US. Spend this Thursday evening with Janine Vangool and Alice Savoie, two of our judges for this year’s TDC 63/Typography 38 competitions. Generously hosted by Parsons School of Design.

JANINE VANGOOL

Janine is the publisher, editor and designer of UPPERCASE, a quarterly print magazine for the creative and curious. Janine’s magazine and books celebrate the commitment to craft and the art of living creatively. Janine got her start working as a freelance graphic designer and teacher. She has been a shop owner and bookseller, gallery curator, sold a line of greeting cards wholesale, made 10,000 books by hand (with lots of help!) and has sewn her own products for retail. She has a particular fondness for typewriters, a passion that has inspired a book about their graphic history. Her debut fabric collection launched in June 2016 with Windham Fabrics. She lives in Calgary, Canada with her boardgame-designing husband and curious son.
